As someone who originally read the HOO series around Hazel’s age and is now closer to Frank’s let me just say something.
As a 12/13/ whenever I first read the books I thought their relationship was fine and defended it a lot saying stuff about how ‘Hazel is chronologically older than him’, and that ‘Franks a nice guy who isn’t like that’
However present day me would never date a 13 year old. That idea is so nasty to me. What is that? 8th grade? It’s just messed up.
I think they could have been a cute couple but the ages are so off putting. He should of just made Frank 14 or something if he wanted them together. Could of had them as the silly middle schoolers with embarrassing crushes but also great friends.
Or he could of just let the 13-year-old be a 13-year-old, I’m just saying-
here's the thing: the relationship on hazel's end, as weird as this sounds, makes sense. it is completely normal for a 13 year old girl to have a crush on someone older- especially one she has watched in heroic lighting and has always been gentle with her. hell, that's the whole basis of nico's crush on percy, that started as hero woship
frank's side is disgusting. no 16 year old in their right mind would look at a child and think I want to make out with her. that's is predatorial and disturbing. honestly, people in high school don't even like the people in the grade below them, yet alone three.
